2015.10.22 New York Comic Con
This year marks the 10th anniversary for New York Comic Con, which takes place at Jacob Javits Convention Center in NYC from Oct. 8th to the 11th.

Comic Con is a convention for pop-culture, including comics, movies, SF, and animation. It is similar to "Comic Market" in Japan, which is a Doujinshi (magazines published by fans) Fair, and is famous as a place where fans of comics and movies gather and enjoy cosplay. Comic con in San Diego began in 1970, and was known to be the biggest pop-culture festival in North America.

NY Comic Con does not have such a long history, with the first one held in 2006. The number of attendees for the first NY comic con was 33,000, but it grew by 5 times in 9 years. In 2014, more than 150,000 people participated, which was the highest number in its history. Now, NY comic con has surpassed Comic Con in San Diego in terms of the number of attendees.

This year at NY Comic Con, Marvel will present an exclusive first look of the new episodes or sneak peeks of its animated series, such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Ultimate Spider-Man. Stephenie Meyer, the author of the best-selling teen novel series "Twilight", will have a talk show during the event. From Japan, the author of NARUTO, which has a long-standing popularity in the US has also been invited to the event.
