2016.04.12 Bologna Children’s Book Fair
The World Largest Convention of Children’s Picture Books, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) will be held from the 4th of April to the 7th of April in Bologna, Italy. It started in 1964 and gathered over 1,200 ehibitors from 98 countries with over 25,000 attendants last year.

Bologna Illustrators Exhibition has been hosted at this fair since 1976 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary. This book fair is reputable because it announces the Bologna Ragazzi Award, which will be given to the best children's book.

This year’s Guest of Honour Country will be Germany and they will have an exhibition titled “Look!”.
This "Look" exhibition will be made up of talented illustrators living in Germany who deserve to be discovered internationally. The logo for the Guest of Honor is the work of a well-known winner of multiple awards illustrator Ole Könnecke.

Also, this year’s edition of BCBF is the first to devote an entire pavilion, Bologna Digital Media to new technologies, and to TV and film productions.

Another point of interest is the Translation Center, which will cater to professional translators and those wishing to specialize in literature for children and to provide a variety of information regarding the translation of childrend’s books. It provides an opportunity to meet with other professionals, exchange information and build partnerships. Also, all participants can register for the World Directory of Children’s Book Translators, the database of childrend’s book translators.

You may also want to visit the Itabashi Art Museum in Japan, where Bologna Illustrators Exhibition is being held annually.
