2018.03.15 SlatorCon Tokyo 2018
On February 28, 2018, SlatorCon Tokyo will be hosted at TRUNK Hotel in Shibuya, a Tokyo business precinct. SlatorCon was held in London, New York, and Zurich in 2017, and is an effective platform for information exchange for those involved in language services.

Slator, founded 2015, is headquartered in Switzerland and has branches in Singapore and the Philippines. As well as disseminating the latest information on industry trends and technologies geared for translation-related businesses, it hosts events for information exchange around the world.

At SlatorCon Tokyo, there will be presentations and panel discussions on the current state and future outlook of Japan’s translation and interpreting sectors. These include a talk on Japan’s translation market and latest demand trends as well as on the growth strategy of language servicing firms, delivered by the president of a translation company; and a presentation on the training of translators and interpreters in Japan, presented by a cross-cultural communication educator. SlatorCon also has a networking session aimed at managing directors, coordinators, and others involved in interpreting and translation.

Today, globalization has become an indispensable ingredient for business growth. Japan is one of the world’s major interpreting and translation markets, and it is forecast that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with its influx of overseas visitors, will bring a substantial increase in the demand for language services. We wonder what kind of information will be presented at SlatorCon by some of the experts of the translation and interpreting world.
