2018.11.21 PW pays attention as Sunmark publisher release their second bestseller title
An article in US publication Publishers Weekly (PW) October 5 introduced the translation of a book called "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.

Sunmark Publishing have previously published the bestseller "The Life-Saving Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo which was translated into 42 different languages and generated over 1.5 million in sales worldwide. It was the number one seller in both Germany and the UK and was selected as the best seller of the New York Times in America, after it was subsequently published in the United States. With sales results such as these, what sort of publication is Sunmark Publishing looking for when it looking for the next multi-million bestseller?

"Before the Coffee Gets Cold", sold 800,000 copies in Japan, and in September it was made into a movie. Currently, the translation and publication of the book has been confirmed for nine countries including China, Germany, and Turkey. In Taiwan, as of the end of last year over 50,000 copies had been sold and the publication had become a bestseller in the country's major bookstores. Films will be screened in Taiwan in early October, and a future increase in sales are also predicted.

Furthermore, "Zero Training" which sold 700,000 copies within 4 months of its release will also be translated and published in Korea and Taiwan. The author, Tomomi Ishimura, opened a yoga classroom in NY where she developed her independent training method. Hence the title, "Zero Training". Regardless of age or gender, the publication offers exercise regimes that anyone can practice in full-color.

Neil Gudovitz, who was active in translation publication of "The Life-Saving Magic of Tidying Up", became independent as a copyright agent three years ago. Mr. Gudovitz is currently negotiating the translation and publication for the above two titles in the United States. Although the publishing industry is said to be experiencing a recession at present, expanding the world market is likely to be an important strategy in mitigating this.
